Hi, I'm Magno Barros
A versatile engagement specialist with extensive experience in storytelling, qualitative research, and community-focused projects. My work connects people, amplifies diverse voices, and transforms insights into actions that make an impact. Here’s a snapshot of what I do:
-
Workshops: From facilitating conversations that bridge generations to introducing older adults to AI technology, my workshops are designed to inspire, inform, and empower. I create spaces where participants feel valued and engaged, tailoring each session to their unique needs.
-
Storytelling: Whether documenting Māori oral traditions or curating the "Voices of Reservoir" campaign, my storytelling work transforms lived experiences into compelling narratives. By combining photography, video, and visual storytelling, I create powerful connections that foster understanding and amplify diverse voices.
-
Engagement: From designing inclusive workshops for diverse communities, crafting creative community engagement strategies, or documenting shared narratives, my focus is always on fostering meaningful connections. I excel in transforming qualitative data into compelling stories that amplify voices and drive social impact, as well as analysing quantitative data to deliver insights that inform policy and strategic decisions.
-
Lay Research: As a lay researcher, I bring curiosity, empathy, and a commitment to amplifying community voices to my exploration of themes like ageing, Indigenous knowledge, and human rights. My work transforms lived experiences into compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences and drive meaningful dialogue.
With a background in project management and an interest in the arts, I bring a structured yet creative approach to every project. My passion lies in creating meaningful connections, visualising data in ways that resonate, and delivering outcomes that align with community aspirations and organisational goals.
Acknowledgement of Country
The Birrarung flows through this land as a symbol of connection, nourishment, and resilience, carrying stories and knowledge through generations. Like its journey, my work seeks to connect people, amplify diverse voices, and honour the wisdom and traditions that shape our shared future. I am committed to contributing to a respectful and reconciled path forward, grounded in the lessons of this land and its waterways.
I acknowledge that I live and work on land of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people, the traditional custodians of this Country. I pay my respects to their Elders past and present, and honour their deep connection to the Birrarung (Yarra River) and its life-giving waters.
